Planning & Zoning:
Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals applications are reviewed and issued by the Metamora Township Planning and Zoning Department.

Applicants are welcome and encouraged to meet with the Township Zoning Administrator prior to appearing before the Planning Commission or Zoning Board of Appeals.

In most cases, a Zoning Permit must be obtained from the Planning & Zoning Department prior to the issuance of a Building Permit. All applications for zoning permits must be accompanied by plans and specifications, including a plot plan drawn to scale.

Building:
Building Department hours are Monday - Thursday 9am to 5pm. The Building Inspector's office hours are Wednesday 2pm to 5pm or by appointment. Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical Inspectors are available by appointment.

Building & Electrical inspections are conducted Monday - Friday. Mechanical and plumbing inspections are conducted Monday - Thursday. A 24-hour telephone Inspection Request System is available at (810) 678-2237 and recordings are checked each day by 9:00 a.m. Call the Township Offices at (810) 678-2237 to speak directly with Building Department personnel during the Department's regular hours. Please provide 24-hour notice for an inspection.

Friday inspections must be called in by 5pm on Thursdays.
